Worcester and Dudley Historic Churches Trust Sponsored Ride and Stride and Heritage Day

Despite an overcast day which gradually got worse, a very warm welcome was waiting within St James, Bishampton. An impressive display was in place by Bishampton Historic Society, and there was an opportunity to purchase books about the village and its inhabitants. For the intrepid, there were tours of the bell tower, made all the more impressive with the flashes of lightening and thunder all around us.

Visitors took the opportunity to shelter from the rain for a while to eat their own lunch or to enjoy hot bacon sandwiches, warming soup or an array of cakes with tea and coffee. It is on occasions like this we are so grateful for the toilet block facilities! There was a very jolly atmosphere within the church. We entertained visitors from Harvington, Whittington, Himbleton, Bewdley and Bentley to mention just a few. There was much interest in the modifications we have made to St James to turn it into a multi purpose, multi functional space for community events. Questions were asked and advice given. It is good to share in the name of Christ!
